Narrative:
In sum: reporter is the student pilot's instructor pilot. Student pilot had been in training for about 4 yrs due to his job in the service. He appears to have a stomach problem that is exacerbated by lack of food and water. His diet has changed recently due to his wife just having had a baby so when the student pilot was on a solo cross country flight, he became sick to his stomach (most likely due to turbulence prevalent around lamar and colorado springs area) and when he leaned out the window to upchuck he lost his glasses and went 'IFR.' all went well with the student calling the springs approach controller and the controller declared an emergency for the student who was reluctant to do so. The student was given a flight assist and found the airport. Instructor pilot credits student pilot's time of about 100 hours and the hood training given. Chides student for not having extra glasses as per 'personal checklist' she devised for him which included food and water. Instructor pilot's report implies that pilot needs 'guidance' in his personal checklist.

Title: STUDENT PLT LOSES GLASSES, CREATING A PERSONAL 'IFR ENVIRONMENT' FOR HIM. GETS FLT ASSIST.
Narrative: IN SUM: RPTR IS THE STUDENT PLT'S INSTRUCTOR PLT. STUDENT PLT HAD BEEN IN TRAINING FOR ABOUT 4 YRS DUE TO HIS JOB IN THE SVC. HE APPEARS TO HAVE A STOMACH PROB THAT IS EXACERBATED BY LACK OF FOOD AND WATER. HIS DIET HAS CHANGED RECENTLY DUE TO HIS WIFE JUST HAVING HAD A BABY SO WHEN THE STUDENT PLT WAS ON A SOLO XCOUNTRY FLT, HE BECAME SICK TO HIS STOMACH (MOST LIKELY DUE TO TURB PREVALENT AROUND LAMAR AND COLORADO SPRINGS AREA) AND WHEN HE LEANED OUT THE WINDOW TO UPCHUCK HE LOST HIS GLASSES AND WENT 'IFR.' ALL WENT WELL WITH THE STUDENT CALLING THE SPRINGS APCH CTLR AND THE CTLR DECLARED AN EMER FOR THE STUDENT WHO WAS RELUCTANT TO DO SO. THE STUDENT WAS GIVEN A FLT ASSIST AND FOUND THE ARPT. INSTRUCTOR PLT CREDITS STUDENT PLT'S TIME OF ABOUT 100 HRS AND THE HOOD TRAINING GIVEN. CHIDES STUDENT FOR NOT HAVING EXTRA GLASSES AS PER 'PERSONAL CHKLIST' SHE DEVISED FOR HIM WHICH INCLUDED FOOD AND WATER. INSTRUCTOR PLT'S RPT IMPLIES THAT PLT NEEDS 'GUIDANCE' IN HIS PERSONAL CHKLIST.
