Narrative:
I avoided the arresting cable on runway 33 nearly 2000 ft from threshold by short 'go over.' however, had it been night, I could have hit it even though idented in airport directory. It is dangerous to have arresting cable operational beyond the touchdown zone of an active runway!

Title: AN SMA PLT COMPLAINS ABOUT THE BAK-12 ARRESTING CABLE AT A JOINT USE AIRFIELD.
Narrative: I AVOIDED THE ARRESTING CABLE ON RWY 33 NEARLY 2000 FT FROM THRESHOLD BY SHORT 'GO OVER.' HOWEVER, HAD IT BEEN NIGHT, I COULD HAVE HIT IT EVEN THOUGH IDENTED IN ARPT DIRECTORY. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE ARRESTING CABLE OPERATIONAL BEYOND THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE OF AN ACTIVE RWY!
