Narrative:
On mar/xx/94 flight departed kahului, maui, to hana, maui, with tailstand still attached to the airplane. It was missed by both myself and ramp personnel. Before boarding the airplane I noticed the first officer getting clearance to hana, maui. Ramp agent closed the airstart door. After engine startup and battery disconnect, the ramp agent didn't notice tailstand still attached. During departure another commuter aircraft contacted maui tower to notify us of the problem. We were over the departure end of runway 23. The decision was made to continue the flight rather than return to kahului, maui. We remained offshore and noticed no indication of any problem. We lost the tailstand somewhere between kahului and hana, maui. The problem arose by both myself and ramp agent not noticing tailstand. We should have followed company procedure and had the first officer check everything out before departing.
