Narrative:
While being vectored in sju terminal area, was cleared by approach control to descend from 8000 ft to 2000 ft, and to turn right to a 120 degree heading. Was pointed out traffic at my 10 O'clock position at 2 mi and 100 ft below heading towards us traffic was dc-3 aircraft and told to maintain visual on us. Instead of descending lower, I advanced power to climb and then the TCASII gave RA to climb at 4800 FPM. I leveled at 5400 ft when TCASII stopped warning. We notified ATC of action taken and why. The dc-3 traffic should not have flown so close towards us.
