Narrative:
Working air carrier X in for ILS 5 approach to follow a C560 on a visual approach. Cleared X for the ILS 5 approach. The citation then slowed to 100 KIAS ground speed so I slowed X, noticing that I would not be able to maintain separation unless I issued the C560 traffic to X and he would be able to see it and follow on a visual approach or turn X out for resequence. I tried for the visual when X did not report the C560. I inadvertently gave X a right turn to 360 degrees and 2600 ft. X gave the appropriate readback and hearing it, did not realize that the right turn was issued, X started the turn at which time I realized he was in the right turn and issued a climb to 3000 ft MSL for obstruction clearing and a heading of 180 degrees for traffic -- a falcon on the ILS approach. X made the turn, however, was slow in climbing to 3000 ft. Falcon traffic was issued and the altitude of 3000 reissued. Traffic passed and X was resequenced for the ILS 5 approach.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CTLR TURNED ACR X WRONG WAY HAD LTSS FROM FALCON JET. SYS ERROR.
Narrative: WORKING ACR X IN FOR ILS 5 APCH TO FOLLOW A C560 ON A VISUAL APCH. CLRED X FOR THE ILS 5 APCH. THE CITATION THEN SLOWED TO 100 KIAS GND SPD SO I SLOWED X, NOTICING THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN SEPARATION UNLESS I ISSUED THE C560 TFC TO X AND HE WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IT AND FOLLOW ON A VISUAL APCH OR TURN X OUT FOR RESEQUENCE. I TRIED FOR THE VISUAL WHEN X DID NOT RPT THE C560. I INADVERTENTLY GAVE X A R TURN TO 360 DEGS AND 2600 FT. X GAVE THE APPROPRIATE READBACK AND HEARING IT, DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE R TURN WAS ISSUED, X STARTED THE TURN AT WHICH TIME I REALIZED HE WAS IN THE R TURN AND ISSUED A CLB TO 3000 FT MSL FOR OBSTRUCTION CLRING AND A HDG OF 180 DEGS FOR TFC -- A FALCON ON THE ILS APCH. X MADE THE TURN, HOWEVER, WAS SLOW IN CLBING TO 3000 FT. FALCON TFC WAS ISSUED AND THE ALT OF 3000 REISSUED. TFC PASSED AND X WAS RESEQUENCED FOR THE ILS 5 APCH.
