Narrative:
We were between the portola valley/la honda area on a pleasure flight when a 'war bird' (I don't know what kind) suddenly appeared and 'buzzed' us, several times and deliberately. The owner/pilot descended to avoid this person as he/she circled around us and flew at us several times. As a result, we may have flown lower than we should have to appropriate altitude. I'm not sure what else we could have done to prevent this. My preference would have been to climb and get more 'maneuvering room.'
