Narrative:
Very short taxi from our gate at ord to runway 32R. I was rushing to get the second engine started and complete all checklists. We were switched to tower and cleared for takeoff almost immediately after starting taxi. The captain accomplished several items normally done by the first officer in order to expedite the checklists. I read the before takeoff checklist and also did a short flow pattern to make sure all the important items were done. We took off and departure said he wasn't receiving our transponder. It was off. I missed it on the checklist. Next time I'll just ask the captain to slow down a min and be more methodical in accomplishing the checklist. It was the last leg of a 4 day trip and we were anxious to get home, and tired because of an early departure from hon that morning, too. Need to watch that 'get homeitis.'
