Narrative:
Flight was to re-establish landing currency and begin training for far 135 PIC qualification. PIC/instructor is line captain. Pilot under training is new director of operations. PIC also a&P mechanic. PIC had been keeping track of time-change engine mounts being used under an extension. Certificate holder allowed overflt of extension time by 65 plus hours. New director of operations (trainee) discovered violation and reported under AC 120-56 voluntary disclosure program. Lesson learned: don't let pilots track maintenance by themselves. Guaranteed problems.
