Narrative:
I was working 2 sectors combined at 1 position working 2 frequencys. Several aircraft were checking on at same time or 2 aircraft would answer for each other. This was distracting. I issued aircraft a aircraft B's altitude. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated aircraft a was cpr jet and aircraft B was air carrier dash 8. Both aircraft were climbing with dash 8 ahead and above. When the dash 8 leveled at 17000 ft the reporter meant to issue 16000 ft to the cpr jet but stated he was looking at the data tag for the dash 8 and issued 17000 ft. Separation loss 3.2 mi same altitude. Conflict alert had activated.
