Narrative:
It was the copilot's leg and he commenced the takeoff roll after all checklists were complete. As the captain, I placed my hand on the throttles and passing 100 KTS, the aft galley door light came on. I aborted the takeoff and took control of the aircraft. The light went out almost immediately as we exited the runway. The flight attendant opened and closed the aircraft galley door twice and all lights remained off. After checking brake energies (outside air temperature 55 degrees F) and checking with maintenance control by radio, it was determined that another takeoff was allowed. The only reason to return to the gate was to sign off on the abort. However, our procedure allow us to try another takeoff if all system are ok. The takeoff proceeded without incident. On arrival, maintenance checked all system. I write this because we are required to enter the aborted takeoff in the logbook. The procedure in the far's are not always clear on the requirements for logbook certification after an abort.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: TKOF ABORTED ACCOUNT OF DOOR LIGHT WARNING.
Narrative: IT WAS THE COPLT'S LEG AND HE COMMENCED THE TKOF ROLL AFTER ALL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETE. AS THE CAPT, I PLACED MY HAND ON THE THROTTLES AND PASSING 100 KTS, THE AFT GALLEY DOOR LIGHT CAME ON. I ABORTED THE TKOF AND TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT. THE LIGHT WENT OUT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AS WE EXITED THE RWY. THE FLT ATTENDANT OPENED AND CLOSED THE ACFT GALLEY DOOR TWICE AND ALL LIGHTS REMAINED OFF. AFTER CHKING BRAKE ENERGIES (OUTSIDE AIR TEMP 55 DEGS F) AND CHKING WITH MAINT CTL BY RADIO, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ANOTHER TKOF WAS ALLOWED. THE ONLY REASON TO RETURN TO THE GATE WAS TO SIGN OFF ON THE ABORT. HOWEVER, OUR PROC ALLOW US TO TRY ANOTHER TKOF IF ALL SYS ARE OK. THE TKOF PROCEEDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON ARR, MAINT CHKED ALL SYS. I WRITE THIS BECAUSE WE ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER THE ABORTED TKOF IN THE LOGBOOK. THE PROC IN THE FAR'S ARE NOT ALWAYS CLEAR ON THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LOGBOOK CERTIFICATION AFTER AN ABORT.
