Narrative:
While talking to ZNY on frequency 133.35, we had considerable difficulty communicating with ATC. We experienced almost continuous static on the frequency and whenever the controller (the voice was weak), blended with backgnd noise. We also experienced intermittent piano music while on this frequency and advised ATC of these disturbances. The controller became unreadable, and another aircraft relayed a new frequency to us. Supplemental information from acn 272887: the controller called us twice to ask if we would make the restr but the interference on the frequency made it difficult to understand. By the time we understood what the controller was saying we had crossed the fix 2000 ft high. I should have been more vigilant monitoring the descent but I was overly distracted by trying to get to a better frequency. Another aircraft finally had to relay a new frequency to us. Other aircraft did not seem to hear the interference and we were able to hear other aircraft much better than the controller. We were en route from atlanta to newburgh. Aircraft type MD88.

Title: MLG MISSED XING RESTR DUE BROADCAST RADIO STATION INTERFERENCE ON FREQ.
Narrative: WHILE TALKING TO ZNY ON FREQ 133.35, WE HAD CONSIDERABLE DIFFICULTY COMMUNICATING WITH ATC. WE EXPERIENCED ALMOST CONTINUOUS STATIC ON THE FREQ AND WHENEVER THE CTLR (THE VOICE WAS WEAK), BLENDED WITH BACKGND NOISE. WE ALSO EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT PIANO MUSIC WHILE ON THIS FREQ AND ADVISED ATC OF THESE DISTURBANCES. THE CTLR BECAME UNREADABLE, AND ANOTHER ACFT RELAYED A NEW FREQ TO US. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 272887: THE CTLR CALLED US TWICE TO ASK IF WE WOULD MAKE THE RESTR BUT THE INTERFERENCE ON THE FREQ MADE IT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. BY THE TIME WE UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE CTLR WAS SAYING WE HAD CROSSED THE FIX 2000 FT HIGH. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE VIGILANT MONITORING THE DSCNT BUT I WAS OVERLY DISTRACTED BY TRYING TO GET TO A BETTER FREQ. ANOTHER ACFT FINALLY HAD TO RELAY A NEW FREQ TO US. OTHER ACFT DID NOT SEEM TO HEAR THE INTERFERENCE AND WE WERE ABLE TO HEAR OTHER ACFT MUCH BETTER THAN THE CTLR. WE WERE ENRTE FROM ATLANTA TO NEWBURGH. ACFT TYPE MD88.
