Narrative:

We (crew) misunderstood line up and takeoff clearance runway 25. First officer read back line up and takeoff runway 25. First officer was not challenged back by the tower controller. Captain taxied the aircraft onto runway 25. Tower then informed us that we were not cleared to line up. (Tower speaking in french and english and was very difficult to understand) we were number one for takeoff full length.

Narrative: WE (CREW) MISUNDERSTOOD LINE UP AND TKOF CLRNC RWY 25. FO READ BACK LINE UP AND TKOF RWY 25. FO WAS NOT CHALLENGED BACK BY THE TWR CTLR. CAPT TAXIED THE ACFT ONTO RWY 25. TWR THEN INFORMED US THAT WE WERE NOT CLRED TO LINE UP. (TWR SPEAKING IN FRENCH AND ENGLISH AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND) WE WERE NUMBER ONE FOR TKOF FULL LENGTH.
