Narrative:
During shutdown of the right engine while taxiing in on ramp at ags, I partially reopened the right fuel lever. This was followed by an immediate call from the tower controller of smoke from the tail. I then made a precautionary shutdown of both engines, observed no egt exceedance, and then restarted the left engine and taxied to the gate. In the meantime, the tower controller who had observed the smoke, called the airport fire department without asking us if we needed assistance. I feel this could have been prevented if the tower had communicated with us better and ascertained that everything was ok before calling the fire department.
