When landing gear was lowered, the left main indicated unsafe. Red light illuminated and no green light. A go around was initiated. The abnormal procedure was completed. The gear was checked down and locked visually. An emergency was declared. An uneventful landing was made. The aircraft was stopped on the runway. The gear was pinned. The aircraft was towed to the gate.

Narrative: WHEN LNDG GEAR WAS LOWERED, THE L MAIN INDICATED UNSAFE. RED LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND NO GREEN LIGHT. A GAR WAS INITIATED. THE ABNORMAL PROC WAS COMPLETED. THE GEAR WAS CHKED DOWN AND LOCKED VISUALLY. AN EMER WAS DECLARED. AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS MADE. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED ON THE RWY. THE GEAR WAS PINNED. THE ACFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE.
