Narrative:

On a pleasure flight, while radar vectored by den approach, noticed high engine oil temperature approaching redline. Requested and received course reversal to bjc. Cleared to land by bjc tower on runway 11L. While preoccupied with monitoring engine performance, I unintentionally lined up on final for runway 11R. This runway is more visible due to recent paving. On short final, I discovered by error and sidestepped to runway 11L and landed without incident. No traffic conflicts were caused. The controller indicated that I was cleared to land on either runway when he saw my situation, and acknowledged no conflicts or problems. How to prevent recurrences: recent experience plus conscious effort to avoid preoccupation with problems.

Title: SMA HAS HIGH OIL TEMP INDICATION. DIVERT LAND.

Narrative: ON A PLEASURE FLT, WHILE RADAR VECTORED BY DEN APCH, NOTICED HIGH ENG OIL TEMP APCHING REDLINE. REQUESTED AND RECEIVED COURSE REVERSAL TO BJC. CLRED TO LAND BY BJC TWR ON RWY 11L. WHILE PREOCCUPIED WITH MONITORING ENG PERFORMANCE, I UNINTENTIONALLY LINED UP ON FINAL FOR RWY 11R. THIS RWY IS MORE VISIBLE DUE TO RECENT PAVING. ON SHORT FINAL, I DISCOVERED BY ERROR AND SIDESTEPPED TO RWY 11L AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO TFC CONFLICTS WERE CAUSED. THE CTLR INDICATED THAT I WAS CLRED TO LAND ON EITHER RWY WHEN HE SAW MY SIT, AND ACKNOWLEDGED NO CONFLICTS OR PROBS. HOW TO PREVENT RECURRENCES: RECENT EXPERIENCE PLUS CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO AVOID PREOCCUPATION WITH PROBS.
