Narrative:

At approximately XA10 flight attendants notified cockpit crew that a passenger was seriously ill in the tourist cabin. 2-3 mins later, flight attendants called again to notify us that a physician was tending to the sick passenger. Physician informed the crew that the passenger was passing in and out of consciousness and all his vital signs were poor. Physician also advised that we should get the passenger on the ground as soon as possible. The flight (air carrier) was approximately 45-50 mins from destination (fll). I declared an emergency and requested ATC clearance to mco. We began a slow descent from FL350, accelerated as much as possible and proceeded direct to mco where uneventful landing was made. Paramedics treated the passenger immediately upon arriving at the gate.
