Narrative:

Pre-landing checklist normal, lowered landing gear. Immediately noted a very strong burning type smell in aircraft. Asked right front seat passenger to verify smell, she said she smelled it too. Requested through molokai tower that the fire truck meet the plane, stated also that we had a strong odor but no smoke or other indications. Engine gauges checked normal. Briefed passenger that we would be met by the fire truck and as a precaution would evacuate the aircraft. On short final the right front passenger attempted to open the door. Reached across her and told her to wait until after landing. Landing normal. Exit runway 5 at hi-speed taxiway and proceed towards transient parking area as per company policy, while going through after landing checklist. Right front seat passenger now cannot open door and is panicking. Turned into transient parking area and reached over passenger to open door while applying brakes, said we would get out as soon as aircraft stopped. Left wing tip struck the propeller spinner of a park aircraft. Stopped approximately 20 ft later, shut off fuel, engines, and master switch as passenger exited, then exited through door myself. All passenger accounted for and no injuries found. Left inboard exhaust manifold is observed to be broken with a 1 X 2 inch piece missing and seen in bottom of cowling. Hole observed in front lower fiberglass cowl, presumably caused by contact with hot exhaust gases. Baggage unloaded and passenger escorted to terminal by company personnel. Pilot again checked with passenger to reaffirm no injuries at terminal. Pilot gave report to airport security and airport manager. Manager took polaroids of damaged aircraft. Pilot received permission and assistance from airport manager and personnel to push the aircraft into a marked tie down spot. Wing tip damage was noted, also a note was left on the aircraft whose propeller spinner was hit. Pilot attributes contributing factors as: 1) uneven braking. Left brakes had been recently renewed while right had not. 2) pilot feared that the panicking passenger might attempt to exit the aircraft before it came to a complete stop. By opening the door but still keeping an arm across her body she was prevented from exiting the plane prematurely, while her immediate cause for panic, that the door would not open, was removed. 3) poor choice of parking area. Company owner had been insistent in briefings that the transient parking area be used rather than the normal ramp area when experiencing difficulties.

Title: PLT DISTR BY PERCEIVED MECHANICAL PROB AND PAX CONCERNS, TAXIED WING TIP INTO PARKED ACFT.

Narrative: PRE-LNDG CHKLIST NORMAL, LOWERED LNDG GEAR. IMMEDIATELY NOTED A VERY STRONG BURNING TYPE SMELL IN ACFT. ASKED R FRONT SEAT PAX TO VERIFY SMELL, SHE SAID SHE SMELLED IT TOO. REQUESTED THROUGH MOLOKAI TWR THAT THE FIRE TRUCK MEET THE PLANE, STATED ALSO THAT WE HAD A STRONG ODOR BUT NO SMOKE OR OTHER INDICATIONS. ENG GAUGES CHKED NORMAL. BRIEFED PAX THAT WE WOULD BE MET BY THE FIRE TRUCK AND AS A PRECAUTION WOULD EVACUATE THE ACFT. ON SHORT FINAL THE R FRONT PAX ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR. REACHED ACROSS HER AND TOLD HER TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER LNDG. LNDG NORMAL. EXIT RWY 5 AT HI-SPD TXWY AND PROCEED TOWARDS TRANSIENT PARKING AREA AS PER COMPANY POLICY, WHILE GOING THROUGH AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. R FRONT SEAT PAX NOW CANNOT OPEN DOOR AND IS PANICKING. TURNED INTO TRANSIENT PARKING AREA AND REACHED OVER PAX TO OPEN DOOR WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, SAID WE WOULD GET OUT AS SOON AS ACFT STOPPED. L WING TIP STRUCK THE PROP SPINNER OF A PARK ACFT. STOPPED APPROX 20 FT LATER, SHUT OFF FUEL, ENGS, AND MASTER SWITCH AS PAX EXITED, THEN EXITED THROUGH DOOR MYSELF. ALL PAX ACCOUNTED FOR AND NO INJURIES FOUND. L INBOARD EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS OBSERVED TO BE BROKEN WITH A 1 X 2 INCH PIECE MISSING AND SEEN IN BOTTOM OF COWLING. HOLE OBSERVED IN FRONT LOWER FIBERGLASS COWL, PRESUMABLY CAUSED BY CONTACT WITH HOT EXHAUST GASES. BAGGAGE UNLOADED AND PAX ESCORTED TO TERMINAL BY COMPANY PERSONNEL. PLT AGAIN CHKED WITH PAX TO REAFFIRM NO INJURIES AT TERMINAL. PLT GAVE RPT TO ARPT SECURITY AND ARPT MGR. MGR TOOK POLAROIDS OF DAMAGED ACFT. PLT RECEIVED PERMISSION AND ASSISTANCE FROM ARPT MGR AND PERSONNEL TO PUSH THE ACFT INTO A MARKED TIE DOWN SPOT. WING TIP DAMAGE WAS NOTED, ALSO A NOTE WAS LEFT ON THE ACFT WHOSE PROP SPINNER WAS HIT. PLT ATTRIBUTES CONTRIBUTING FACTORS AS: 1) UNEVEN BRAKING. L BRAKES HAD BEEN RECENTLY RENEWED WHILE R HAD NOT. 2) PLT FEARED THAT THE PANICKING PAX MIGHT ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE ACFT BEFORE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP.
