Narrative:
Captain overshot guideline to gate. Confusion over whether or not he was to be towed into that gate as a tug was directly in front of the aircraft. After confirming with ramp control that xx was our gate and conflicting signals from ramp personnel, captain made a left turn so that engine tailpipes faced the jetway. Baggage cart was overturned, injuring one of the ramp personnel.
