Narrative:
Flight attendant reported bad smell in forward cabin. Followed 2 mins later by smoke in forward cabin. Pilots donned oxygen masks declared an emergency, asked ATC for nearest airport. Philadelphia. ATC gave us normal descent and vectors to philadelphia. Smoke continued in cabin until landing. Never had smoke in cockpit. After landing unable to start APU due to low battery voltage, 8 volts -- shut down engines on taxiway. Towed to gate.

Title: FLC OF MLG DECLARES AN EMER AND DIVERTS TO LAND DUE TO SMOKE IN THE PAX CABIN.
Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT RPTED BAD SMELL IN FORWARD CABIN. FOLLOWED 2 MINS LATER BY SMOKE IN FORWARD CABIN. PLTS DONNED OXYGEN MASKS DECLARED AN EMER, ASKED ATC FOR NEAREST ARPT. PHILADELPHIA. ATC GAVE US NORMAL DSCNT AND VECTORS TO PHILADELPHIA. SMOKE CONTINUED IN CABIN UNTIL LNDG. NEVER HAD SMOKE IN COCKPIT.
