Narrative:
While inbound for the visual approach runway 14L at ord on oct/xx/94, at approximately XA00 pm and after having received 'cleared for the visual approach runway 14L hold short runway 22R,' I acknowledged the clearance. Shortly after passing the OM I tried to call approach to ask to be switched to the tower. I repeated my call to approach and again received no reply. I then tried to call tower and was unable to make anyone hear me. I tried approach and the secondary tower frequency again. No answer was received and I had to land without talking to the tower controller. The frequencys were all very busy. The airplane that was on final for runway 22R, and (air carrier) 757 I think, went around. I located my backup microphone once on the ground and called tower. They were busy and told me to contact ground control without asking for an explanation. The landing was made and I held short of the runway as instructed by approach. There was no danger to anyone, but I believe that the other aircraft was sent around just in case. It was unfortunate that an airliner had to go around, but a good job by the controllers. I am having my transmitter and push to talk switch checked.

Title: PLT OF CPR TWIN TURBO PROP LOST COMS DURING FINAL APCH RESULTING IN NOT CONTACTING TWR FOR LNDG AUTH AND CAUSING ANOTHER ACFT TO GAR.
Narrative: WHILE INBOUND FOR THE VISUAL APCH RWY 14L AT ORD ON OCT/XX/94, AT APPROX XA00 PM AND AFTER HAVING RECEIVED 'CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH RWY 14L HOLD SHORT RWY 22R,' I ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC. SHORTLY AFTER PASSING THE OM I TRIED TO CALL APCH TO ASK TO BE SWITCHED TO THE TWR. I REPEATED MY CALL TO APCH AND AGAIN RECEIVED NO REPLY. I THEN TRIED TO CALL TWR AND WAS UNABLE TO MAKE ANYONE HEAR ME. I TRIED APCH AND THE SECONDARY TWR FREQ AGAIN. NO ANSWER WAS RECEIVED AND I HAD TO LAND WITHOUT TALKING TO THE TWR CTLR. THE FREQS WERE ALL VERY BUSY. THE AIRPLANE THAT WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 22R, AND (ACR) 757 I THINK, WENT AROUND. I LOCATED MY BACKUP MIKE ONCE ON THE GND AND CALLED TWR. THEY WERE BUSY AND TOLD ME TO CONTACT GND CTL WITHOUT ASKING FOR AN EXPLANATION. THE LNDG WAS MADE AND I HELD SHORT OF THE RWY AS INSTRUCTED BY APCH. THERE WAS NO DANGER TO ANYONE, BUT I BELIEVE THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS SENT AROUND JUST IN CASE. IT WAS UNFORTUNATE THAT AN AIRLINER HAD TO GAR, BUT A GOOD JOB BY THE CTLRS. I AM HAVING MY XMITTER AND PUSH TO TALK SWITCH CHKED.
