Narrative:
After landing at blf attempted to cancel IFR flight plan with ZID. My first officer and myself both thought ZID had received our IFR cancellation. However, the local police were dispatched to the airport to determine the status of our flight. One factor that I believe contributed to this situation was the fact that ZID was very busy working aircraft on various other frequencys.
