Narrative:
It would be best to describe what happened by recounting the xmissions between myself and newark tower. It also must be understood that my job entails listening to xx broadcasting in my left ear and ATC facilities in my right. At the time of the incident I was making a recording for broadcast on a local radio station. Hereafter ewr will refer to newark tower and abc will refer to my aircraft. Ewr: abc, leaving the class B airspace, squawk VFR, frequency change approved. Abc: 'roger newark. Thank you and have a good day.' at this time I was completing the recording and changing my transponder code to VFR. After about 30 seconds I realized I had neglected to report on some traffic on the garden state parkway to the broadcasting ground station. At that point I proceeded to turn back eastbound to get a better view to make my report. Being just cleared from the airspace I tried to remain outside at which time I heard this: ewr: 'cessna abc it looks like you've got someone in your face there. It seems abc has reentered the class B. Abc, what are you doing? I thought you were heading west.' abc: 'yes sir I know but I needed to view the parkway one more time to make a report but I guess the cessna's got it. Sorry about that. Heading west now for abc.' ewr: 'ok then.' cessna abd was another traffic reporting plane which I came within about 500 ft of at this time. Upon seeing the traffic and hearing ewr I immediately banked to the left and headed west. I believed I was remaining just outside ewr's class B. Having been just cleared. I assumed ewr still had me on radar and could see I was just outside. I guess not.

ABC, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I THOUGHT YOU WERE HDG W.' ABC: 'YES SIR I KNOW BUT I NEEDED TO VIEW THE PARKWAY ONE MORE TIME TO MAKE A RPT BUT I GUESS THE CESSNA'S GOT IT. SORRY ABOUT THAT. HDG W NOW FOR ABC.' EWR: 'OK THEN.' CESSNA ABD WAS ANOTHER TFC RPTING PLANE WHICH I CAME WITHIN ABOUT 500 FT OF AT THIS TIME. UPON SEEING THE TFC AND HEARING EWR I IMMEDIATELY BANKED TO THE L AND HEADED W. I BELIEVED I WAS REMAINING JUST OUTSIDE EWR'S CLASS B. HAVING BEEN JUST CLRED. I ASSUMED EWR STILL HAD ME ON RADAR AND COULD SEE I WAS JUST OUTSIDE. I GUESS NOT.
