Narrative:

During landing rollout #2 thrust reverser indications were abnormal. My attention and so's attention was diverted to reverser and missed tower radio call. Captain understood 'clear to cross runway 04L on yankee.' as we crossed the hold line captain and I both saw a B-767 on takeoff roll and the captain quickly stopped the aircraft about 30 ft past the hold line. After the B-767 takeoff, we were cleared to cross runway 04L and contact ground. We were still unsure if we were cleared to cross runway 04L initially or not. If we were cleared to hold short of runway 04L, we did not read back the hold short clearance. I acknowledged their instructions with a 'roger' and nothing else. I should have not diverted my attention during this critical phase of taxiing and should have questioned the clearance since I didn't hear it. The habit of checking the runway prior to crossing by the captain and myself prevented a greater conflict which could have had a much greater potential for disaster.

Title: TWR CLRED FLC TO HOLD SHORT OF ACTIVE RWY BUT PIC UNDERSTOOD CROSS ACTIVE RWY. FLC STARTED TO CROSS BUT HELD SHORT WHEN THEY OBSERVED ANOTHER ACFT ON TKOF.

Narrative: DURING LNDG ROLLOUT #2 THRUST REVERSER INDICATIONS WERE ABNORMAL. MY ATTN AND SO'S ATTN WAS DIVERTED TO REVERSER AND MISSED TWR RADIO CALL. CAPT UNDERSTOOD 'CLR TO CROSS RWY 04L ON YANKEE.' AS WE CROSSED THE HOLD LINE CAPT AND I BOTH SAW A B-767 ON TKOF ROLL AND THE CAPT QUICKLY STOPPED THE ACFT ABOUT 30 FT PAST THE HOLD LINE. AFTER THE B-767 TKOF, WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 04L AND CONTACT GND. WE WERE STILL UNSURE IF WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 04L INITIALLY OR NOT. IF WE WERE CLRED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 04L, WE DID NOT READ BACK THE HOLD SHORT CLRNC. I ACKNOWLEDGED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS WITH A 'ROGER' AND NOTHING ELSE. I SHOULD HAVE NOT DIVERTED MY ATTN DURING THIS CRITICAL PHASE OF TAXIING AND SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THE CLRNC SINCE I DIDN'T HEAR IT. THE HABIT OF CHKING THE RWY PRIOR TO XING BY THE CAPT AND MYSELF PREVENTED A GREATER CONFLICT WHICH COULD HAVE HAD A MUCH GREATER POTENTIAL FOR DISASTER.
