Narrative:
On jan/xx/94 private pilot flew a R22B helicopter into restr airspace over the rose bowl in pasadena, ca, at approximately XX00 local. Pilot was not aware of airspace violation until notified by police helicopter. Pilot then immediately exited said airspace and returned to airport of origin (vny) and contacted pasadena police helicopters. The flight began at approximately XX00 local at (vny) -- primary intention being transit to hawthorne for circuit and hover practice. The secondary intention being overflt of pasadena on the return flight to (vny). (Vny) ATIS bravo and hawthorne ATIS made no mention of airspace restr over pasadena. Pilot failed to contact FSS prior to flight to obtain NOTAMS. The morning of the flight was marked by very clear and calm conditions along intended route. Pilot became complacent enough to rely on ATIS and chart alone for flight planning. Stricter adherence to preflight planning discipline with particular attention paid to obtaining NOTAMS along intended route. And a general improvement in airspace familiarity.

Narrative: ON JAN/XX/94 PVT PLT FLEW A R22B HELI INTO RESTR AIRSPACE OVER THE ROSE BOWL IN PASADENA, CA, AT APPROX XX00 LCL. PLT WAS NOT AWARE OF AIRSPACE VIOLATION UNTIL NOTIFIED BY POLICE HELI. PLT THEN IMMEDIATELY EXITED SAID AIRSPACE AND RETURNED TO ARPT OF ORIGIN (VNY) AND CONTACTED PASADENA POLICE HELIS. THE FLT BEGAN AT APPROX XX00 LCL AT (VNY) -- PRIMARY INTENTION BEING TRANSIT TO HAWTHORNE FOR CIRCUIT AND HOVER PRACTICE. THE SECONDARY INTENTION BEING OVERFLT OF PASADENA ON THE RETURN FLT TO (VNY). (VNY) ATIS BRAVO AND HAWTHORNE ATIS MADE NO MENTION OF AIRSPACE RESTR OVER PASADENA. PLT FAILED TO CONTACT FSS PRIOR TO FLT TO OBTAIN NOTAMS. THE MORNING OF THE FLT WAS MARKED BY VERY CLR AND CALM CONDITIONS ALONG INTENDED RTE. PLT BECAME COMPLACENT ENOUGH TO RELY ON ATIS AND CHART ALONE FOR FLT PLANNING. STRICTER ADHERENCE TO PREFLT PLANNING DISCIPLINE WITH PARTICULAR ATTN PAID TO OBTAINING NOTAMS ALONG INTENDED RTE. AND A GENERAL IMPROVEMENT IN AIRSPACE FAMILIARITY.
