Narrative:
While rolling out approaching highspd, told to cross runway 12 on victor contact ground other side. There are no signs at all and no letters painted on the pavement, and multiple taxiway junctions. I took Y instead of V. With no signs, no paint on pavement, night time conditions, a very small taxi chart, and our requirement to clear the highspd expeditiously, I picked the most logical road -- yankee. Paint on the tarmac as is done in ewr would prevent such mistakes.
