Narrative:

Captain and myself flew over 34 hours in 7 days. Due to very intense, holiday schedule, reduced rest trips and the fact we flew well over normal blocked flight time we exceeded 34 hours. We flew 8 out of 9 days and were exhausted. We informed crew scheduling immediately discovering we were illegal to fly. We exceeded 34 hours by 1.69 hours. Having a crew scheduling department that assisted pilots and was aware of how much crews had flown would certainly help. Also not having reduced rest trips and adding 30 min breaks between schedules would have allowed us more time to keep up with paperwork. Reduced rest trips must stop. Crews are flying dead tired. 1200 hours /yr is not the problem, reduced rest is!
