Narrative:

This was my first flight in actual icing conditions with an airplane that has deicing and/or anti-icing capabilities. I was unnerved when all the ice did not come off when I cycled the boots. This caused me to miss the right turn on the arrival after reaching the sprtn intersection. Dtw approach scolded me and had me turn to reintercept the appropriate course. To cure me of the nerves, my mei suggests I take the plane out when moderate ice is forecast and shoot approachs at the local airport.
