Narrative:

Above referenced flight originated in WX condition of light rain 36 degrees. Flight source was sju to ord on the gate for 1 hour or more. No icing or accumulations noticed during preflight or while taxi out for takeoff. Deicing crew inquired as to desire for deicing. Queried crew chief if he observed ice. Negative reply. 2 hours into flight, flight attendant called to say that non revenue pointed out ice on right wing. First officer went back to find 4 ft by 15 ft patch, extending from walk area outboard. Queried the non revenue as to what he had seen. After takeoff, clear ice covering from walk area to beyond filler cap from trailing line of slats to flap hinge line. Became apparent after takeoff with flexing of wing in chop. Thickness estimated to be 1/8 inch. Observer was not able to see left wing and it was clean at time of observation by first officer. Note that this would have been the sunny side wing on the wbound flight. 1 additional note: thin frost was observed on underside of wing. Wonder if this could be the same cold soak problem as encountered on the S80 fleet.
