Narrative:

On departure ord, flight experienced a wind shear alert at approximately 800 ft just after initiating cleanup. Initiated wind shear recovery but unable to verify actual wind shear encounter other than momentary '0' vertical speed noted by first officer. Continued cleanup and departure. I was concerned about the need to return ord due to possible engine overtemp. Dispatch notified and advised me that no action was required. I had treated this as a non event and am now concerned that my initial thoughts on returning to ord may have been correct. Sorry about the delay in sending this message. This morning advised by chief pilot that aircraft had been taken OTS for dual engine change. Supplemental information from acn 294267: flight conditions were IFR/icing and moderate chop. Flight instruments indicated no abnormalities except for '0' vertical speed and some airspeed fluctuation. Captain quickly advanced throttles, and I continued to monitor flight path. Shortly, the captain reduced power and noted the egt had exceeded red line. I reported wind shear warning to the tower. After clean- up, I referred to the QRH for abnormal procedures, and the captain contacted dispatch as to appropriate action, ie, return and land or continue to destination. Dispatch advised us to continue the flight to destination. Abnormality was noted in the aircraft logbook.

Title: WIND SHEAR. ENGS OVER TEMPED.

Narrative: ON DEP ORD, FLT EXPERIENCED A WIND SHEAR ALERT AT APPROX 800 FT JUST AFTER INITIATING CLEANUP. INITIATED WIND SHEAR RECOVERY BUT UNABLE TO VERIFY ACTUAL WIND SHEAR ENCOUNTER OTHER THAN MOMENTARY '0' VERT SPD NOTED BY FO. CONTINUED CLEANUP AND DEP. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE NEED TO RETURN ORD DUE TO POSSIBLE ENG OVERTEMP. THIS MORNING ADVISED BY CHIEF PLT THAT ACFT HAD BEEN TAKEN OTS FOR DUAL ENG CHANGE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 294267: FLT CONDITIONS WERE IFR/ICING AND MODERATE CHOP. FLT INSTS INDICATED NO ABNORMALITIES EXCEPT FOR '0' VERT SPD AND SOME AIRSPD FLUCTUATION. CAPT QUICKLY ADVANCED THROTTLES, AND I CONTINUED TO MONITOR FLT PATH. SHORTLY, THE CAPT REDUCED PWR AND NOTED THE EGT HAD EXCEEDED RED LINE. I RPTED WIND SHEAR WARNING TO THE TWR. AFTER CLEAN- UP, I REFERRED TO THE QRH FOR ABNORMAL PROCS, AND THE CAPT CONTACTED DISPATCH AS TO APPROPRIATE ACTION, IE, RETURN AND LAND OR CONTINUE TO DEST. DISPATCH ADVISED US TO CONTINUE THE FLT TO DEST. ABNORMALITY WAS NOTED IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK.
