Narrative:
BE35/a (aircraft-X) on IFR clearance EST XA45 CST 1-SUN 95. Controller, mobile mob. Level cruise, 6000 ft MSL, heading 310 degrees on gvc 310 degree radial (airway) approximately 5-10 NM northwest of gcv. Conditions, VFR except for layer of smoke estimated about 500 ft thick at 5500 ft - 6000 ft MSL. Mobile handed aircraft-X off to houston center frequency 127.65 I had heard mobile earlier talking to a flight of 2 single engine cessnas. One had been told to stop squawk and radio contact and the other was to continue squawk and radio contact for both of them. I did not pick up their location from the conversation. The moment I switched frequency from mobile to houston, I saw one of the cessnas pass under my right wing, estimate 500 ft horizontal and 500 vertical at the most. I reported level at 6000 ft to houston 127.65 and asked him if he had the traffic that just passed under me. He said yes and inquired if mobile had not given me a TA and I replied negative. I was told my mobile that since mobile was talking to one of the cessnas and had a verified 500 ft vertical separation that an advisory was not necessary. My concern was that only one of the cessnas was reporting altitude and that it would have been safer for all to have controller issue a traffic report to all involved.

Title: RPTR COMPLAINT OF TA NOT GIVEN ON FORMATION FLT OF 2 THAT CREATED, IN HIS VIEW, A POTENTIAL CONFLICT.
Narrative: BE35/A (ACFT-X) ON IFR CLRNC EST XA45 CST 1-SUN 95. CTLR, MOBILE MOB. LEVEL CRUISE, 6000 FT MSL, HDG 310 DEGS ON GVC 310 DEG RADIAL (AIRWAY) APPROX 5-10 NM NW OF GCV. CONDITIONS, VFR EXCEPT FOR LAYER OF SMOKE ESTIMATED ABOUT 500 FT THICK AT 5500 FT - 6000 FT MSL. MOBILE HANDED ACFT-X OFF TO HOUSTON CTR FREQ 127.65 I HAD HEARD MOBILE EARLIER TALKING TO A FLT OF 2 SINGLE ENG CESSNAS. ONE HAD BEEN TOLD TO STOP SQUAWK AND RADIO CONTACT AND THE OTHER WAS TO CONTINUE SQUAWK AND RADIO CONTACT FOR BOTH OF THEM. I DID NOT PICK UP THEIR LOCATION FROM THE CONVERSATION. THE MOMENT I SWITCHED FREQ FROM MOBILE TO HOUSTON, I SAW ONE OF THE CESSNAS PASS UNDER MY R WING, ESTIMATE 500 FT HORIZONTAL AND 500 VERTICAL AT THE MOST. I RPTED LEVEL AT 6000 FT TO HOUSTON 127.65 AND ASKED HIM IF HE HAD THE TFC THAT JUST PASSED UNDER ME. MY CONCERN WAS THAT ONLY ONE OF THE CESSNAS WAS RPTING ALT AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SAFER FOR ALL TO HAVE CTLR ISSUE A TFC RPT TO ALL INVOLVED.
