Narrative:
During cruise at FL370 with autoplt engaged in altitude hold, navigation and thrust management engaged we were in an area of light chop when a wave type action occurred. After climbing and descending about 200 ft several times the aircraft lost 1000 ft within a period of about 10 seconds. The turbulence mode of the autoplt was engaged and the aircraft was immediately manually flown back to FL370 without incident. No other aircraft were in our area at the time.
