Narrative:
At approximately XA30 local, while being vectored for ILS runway 4R at ewr, we were assigned an altitude of 6000 ft heading 200 degrees. Shortly after rolling out on a 200 degree heading, TCASII indicated a TA. Almost immediately ATC gave a descent to 4000 ft and turn to 130 degrees. During readback TCASII RA commanded a descent of about 2000 FPM. We complied with the TCASII then returned to the ATC clearance. We observed a minimum clearance of approximately 600 ft vertical and 1 mi horizontal. Prior to the TA, no other instructions were heard or acknowledged by us in relation to this situation.

Title: CONFLICT AIRBORNE LESS SEVERE (OPERROR).
Narrative: AT APPROX XA30 LCL, WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR ILS RWY 4R AT EWR, WE WERE ASSIGNED AN ALT OF 6000 FT HDG 200 DEGS. SHORTLY AFTER ROLLING OUT ON A 200 DEG HDG, TCASII INDICATED A TA. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY ATC GAVE A DSCNT TO 4000 FT AND TURN TO 130 DEGS. DURING READBACK TCASII RA COMMANDED A DSCNT OF ABOUT 2000 FPM. WE COMPLIED WITH THE TCASII THEN RETURNED TO THE ATC CLRNC. WE OBSERVED A MINIMUM CLRNC OF APPROX 600 FT VERT AND 1 MI HORIZ. PRIOR TO THE TA, NO OTHER INSTRUCTIONS WERE HEARD OR ACKNOWLEDGED BY US IN RELATION TO THIS SIT.
