Narrative:

Approaching dfw on the scy 7 arrival and level at 11000 ft, approach requested airspeed reduction to 210 KTS. After the aircraft slowed as expected, and still on autoplt altitude hold, the aircraft drifted from 11000 ft indicated to 10700 ft at which time we were alerted by the altitude alerter that the aircraft was off scheduled altitude. Disconnecting the autoplt excessive nose down trim was noted. Stabilizer out of trim light was on and the stabilizer cruise trim was found to be inoperative. The aircraft was returned to 11000 ft via hand flying. No conflict with ATC was noted. An E-6 entry was made reporting the failed stabilizer cruise trim. The flight continued to landing without further incident.
