Narrative:
While working at an FBO on feb/sun/95, I was asked to perform an instrument competency check in a C-170. Knowing I could not act as PIC if he was not current, I asked if he was current. The owner informed me he was out of instrument currency, but current beyond that. After the flight and ground work, which equaled 1 hour for ground and 2 hours flight time, I noticed his logbook was not endorsed for any flight reviews. Not thinking, I endorsed his logbook for the icc and BFR. Later that day, I realized my error. I am currently trying to communication with the owner that the flight was not legal and we need to correct the sign off. The reason for the concern is that I am not endorsed to fly a tailwheel. Note: the owner did a very good job during the flight.
