Narrative:
We were on final approach to runway 34 at slc, while a metroliner was on final to runway 35, unknown to us. We were visual, but lined up on the runway 34 localizer. TCASII showed an aircraft above and in front of us descending. Our TCASII gave us a 'climb, climb now,' RA just after we visually saw the metropolitan above us. The TCASII then gave us an immediate 'descend.' if we hadn't visually seen the metropolitan, our first TCASII RA would have caused us to climb into him. Tower never advised us they had traffic on final to runway 35.
