Narrative:
Took off from ump with tow bar still attached to the nosewheel. Flew to ord uneventfully with no unusual indications after turn off from runway, I was notified by ground controller that tow bar was attached. Taxied to a runup pad where tow bar was removed. Upon inspection, no damage to aircraft was observed other than a scraped but serviceable tow bar. In trying to get passenger to ord on time to make a flight, forgot to check twice to confirm tow bar removed. Also was preoccupied with inspecting nose gear for kink in left nosewheel steering mechanism. Incident was very embarrassing but fortunately uneventful.
