Narrative:
After landing and clearing the runway, flight attendants reported very heavy smoke in the main cabin. I stopped the aircraft on the taxiway, reported to ground control that we had smoke in the cabin and declared emergency. We advised ground control that we were evacing the aircraft. I then advised the flight attendants to evacuate/evacuation the aircraft through the tailcone exit and the main cabin door. Both exits had emergency slides and they were inflated. The aircraft was evacuate/evacuationed in about 2 1/2 mins. 3 passenger received minor injuries. The smoke was idented as hydraulic fluid that had vaporized. Initial investigation by maintenance determined the smoke was caused by a rupture in the left reverser hydraulic actuator.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: VAPORIZED HYD FLUID FROM RUPTURED REVERSER HYD ACTUATOR CAUSED SMOKE IN CABIN. ACFT EVACED WITH 3 PAX MINOR INJURIES.
Narrative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
