Narrative:
I lost my alternator on an IFR flight plan. I advised center of the situation and they told me to report 45 east of ojc at which time I lost all electrical. I felt it safer since it was VFR to make a night landing at my home field without electrical than to land at a strange airport with no one around. I proceeded as cleared to ojc. When I was approximately 5 mi out, I received a green light and made an uneventful landing.
