Narrative:
ATC cleared flight to cross hayed intersection at FL190. Level at FL270 at time. Complied with company altitude setting procedures. 5 mins later, captain began reading union magazine. We began discussion about company plans for pay cuts, reductions in staff, etc. Controller asked if we were going to make restr 10 mi from hayed intersection. We said no, and captain began rapid descent. We crossed hayed at FL210 and made FL190 only 1.5- 2 mi late. I went through training, with this captain, and find him to be very competent. I felt very comfortable with him and didn't think to keep an eye on the altitude restr. Also, the constant financial and professional pressure on our airline kept our minds from being where they should have been.

Title: AN ACR FLC BECAME DISTRACTED OVER COMPANY'S FINANCIAL CONDITION TO THE EXTENT OF FORGETTING TO INITIATE A DSCNT TO COMPLY WITH A XING RESTR.
Narrative: ATC CLRED FLT TO CROSS HAYED INTXN AT FL190. LEVEL AT FL270 AT TIME. COMPLIED WITH COMPANY ALT SETTING PROCS. 5 MINS LATER, CAPT BEGAN READING UNION MAGAZINE. WE BEGAN DISCUSSION ABOUT COMPANY PLANS FOR PAY CUTS, REDUCTIONS IN STAFF, ETC. CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE RESTR 10 MI FROM HAYED INTXN. WE SAID NO, AND CAPT BEGAN RAPID DSCNT. ALSO, THE CONSTANT FINANCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL PRESSURE ON OUR AIRLINE KEPT OUR MINDS FROM BEING WHERE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
