Narrative:
Cleared for a visual approach runway 31R, I entered right downwind for runway 31R. I was cleared to land runway 31R and was keeping my speed up to make good time, but was not running late. I was turning right base for runway 31R and while putting approach flaps (15 degrees) in and gear down, I was ensuring I had 3 green lights for gear down and locked and by the time I looked up again, I must have already passed runway 31R and saw runway 31L, assuming it was runway 31R. I landed and then realized I had landed on the left runway. After clearing the runway, I only requested to taxi to the ramp. Tower said 'taxi to the ramp this frequency, have a good night.' I feel contributing factors were that I was about 30 KTS too fast on the base leg, therefore blowing past my cleared runway, and I failed to ensure my localizer needle was centered while on final approach. I had it tuned to runway 31R, but didn't look at it while mistakenly on final for runway 31L. I also failed to ensure that the runway numbers said runway 31R. I discovered I landed on the wrong runway during the landing roll-out when I was looking to the right for the FBO I park at, but only saw the airline terminal instead.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WRONG RWY APCH LNDG IN A NIGHT OP.
Narrative: CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH RWY 31R, I ENTERED R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 31R. I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 31R AND WAS KEEPING MY SPD UP TO MAKE GOOD TIME, BUT WAS NOT RUNNING LATE. I WAS TURNING R BASE FOR RWY 31R AND WHILE PUTTING APCH FLAPS (15 DEGS) IN AND GEAR DOWN, I WAS ENSURING I HAD 3 GREEN LIGHTS FOR GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED AND BY THE TIME I LOOKED UP AGAIN, I MUST HAVE ALREADY PASSED RWY 31R AND SAW RWY 31L, ASSUMING IT WAS RWY 31R. I LANDED AND THEN REALIZED I HAD LANDED ON THE L RWY. AFTER CLRING THE RWY, I ONLY REQUESTED TO TAXI TO THE RAMP. TWR SAID 'TAXI TO THE RAMP THIS FREQ, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT.' I FEEL CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE THAT I WAS ABOUT 30 KTS TOO FAST ON THE BASE LEG, THEREFORE BLOWING PAST MY CLRED RWY, AND I FAILED TO ENSURE MY LOC NEEDLE WAS CTRED WHILE ON FINAL APCH. I HAD IT TUNED TO RWY 31R, BUT DIDN'T LOOK AT IT WHILE MISTAKENLY ON FINAL FOR RWY 31L. I ALSO FAILED TO ENSURE THAT THE RWY NUMBERS SAID RWY 31R. I DISCOVERED I LANDED ON THE WRONG RWY DURING THE LANDING ROLL-OUT WHEN I WAS LOOKING TO THE R FOR THE FBO I PARK AT, BUT ONLY SAW THE AIRLINE TERMINAL INSTEAD.
