Narrative:

It was a very stormy day and I had to fly several legs in moderate turbulence with arrs and departures in very gusty conditions. Winds at the surface reached 30 plus KTS. After the final landing at oak it was noticed that the access panel for the air filter on the left side of the engine cowling was missing. The panel measured approximately 8 X 12 inches. It was impossible to determine when that piece had separated from the aircraft. All the stops lasted 5 mins or less and the missing panel was on the opposite side of the crew door. The panel was in place during the preflight before the first leg. Notes: route of flight was oakland, ca, modesto, merced, fresno, chandler, oakland. Altitudes flown were between 2000 ft and 8000 ft. Time was between XA00 am to XA00 pm.
