Narrative:

Air carrier X holding short, as B-757 rotated. X was told 'company on 2 1/2 mi final, position and hold.' we refused. Controller indignantly asked why. I told him that I didn't want to waive wake turbulence and was concerned about timing with company on 2 1/2 mi final. Controller said (again indignantly) 'let me worry about that.' the time between B-757 rotation and our company crossing threshold was less than 1 min (I timed it). Had we gone into position, we would have had to waive wake turbulence or caused company to go around over us.
