Narrative:
Departure on runway 6 mnl passing 140 KTS (V1, 134 KTS) #4 egt rose above limitations. Engine was pulled back to keep egt within limits. All indications were on overheat of an engine advancing to fire indications. Engine fire detection loops both indicated a fire (needles in 8-10 range) but no bell or light was evident until switching circuits. Engine fire checklist was accomplished uneventfully until attempting to discharge fire bottles. There was no cockpit indication that the bottles had been fired. No discharge lights were illuminated. Another test of the squibs revealed they had been fired. A test of indicator lights revealed the fire bottle lights were operative. An uneventful landing was accomplished. The consequences could have ben disastrous had there been an actual fire.
