Narrative:
Controller told me to make a right turn and go to VOR. I was in the clouds. Autoplt failed, took plane straight up, stalled and dove left. I fell 300 ft before recovering (air traffic controller was mad). I made right turn and climbed back to altitude and went to VOR. After leaving VOR, approach told me to switch to 1200 and land. After landing I failed to close flight plan (I was shook up). Took plane to gsp to have autoplt repaired. I have 3 trips to simcom planned this yr for training. If it were not for the training I could have fallen a lot further and may not have been able to recover. I recognized the problem and kicked off the autoplt, but the plane had shot straight up and rolled left and went into a dive. I will get recurrent training and upgrade my skills.
