Narrative:
On jun/sun/95 2 passenger and myself (PIC) were returning from viszciano, baja mexico. This was my third trip in the last 8 months. The first strip was in jun/xx/94, and the second in dec/xx/94 and the third on jun/sun/95 and each time landing at the same united states airport, calexico. Each time showing the same documents: 1) airworthiness certificate, 2) registration, 3) current medical, 4) pilot's license. (I was informed by my flight instructor to make a xerox copy and laminate it to carry on the flight and file the original away). My flight instructor has made many trips into baja before. I made the last 3 trips with the same xerox and did not realize the original was needed until this trip. Twice before on the dates listed above, the customs officers viewed the xerox copy and never mentioned that the original was needed. I should have been aware that the original was needed. The corrective action I will take is to always carry the original in flight.
