Narrative:

On takeoff runway 21L dtw, just after rotation, a bird just missed my side window and went off right side of aircraft. Captain saw slight fluctuation in right engine EPR -- suspected bird may have been ingested into right engine -- tower was notified of bird strike. Also strong smell in cabin and cockpit. Captain instructed me to fly aircraft and communication with ATC, while he (per our company procedures) contacted dispatch and maintenance control. Captain also had a commuting company pilot (who was riding in back) inspect right engine cowling and nose bullet, everything looked normal. Our engine instruments were all normal, with takeoff EPR set and there was no vibration. Our fellow pilot in back, told us that 1 of our passenger thought she saw what appeared to be rubber, hit the right engine cowl. Captain had same pilot inspect wing and flap area, all normal. As a precaution captain asked dispatch to call dtw tower and verify no debris found on runway, (none was found). Proceeded to destination per maintenance, dispatch and cockpit resource management. All engine instruments normal -- no vibrations, landing normal at destination, normal reverse thrust used and all engine instruments normal. Passenger and crew made aware of initial problem and reason for smell in cabin, which dissipated shortly after departure.

Title: A BIRD WAS INGESTED INTO THE ENG OF AN ACR ACFT ON TKOF CAUSING A SMELL IN THE CABIN AND COCKPIT, AND A FLUCTUATION IN THE EPR INDICATION. FLT CONTINUED TO DEST.

Narrative: ON TKOF RWY 21L DTW, JUST AFTER ROTATION, A BIRD JUST MISSED MY SIDE WINDOW AND WENT OFF R SIDE OF ACFT. CAPT SAW SLIGHT FLUCTUATION IN R ENG EPR -- SUSPECTED BIRD MAY HAVE BEEN INGESTED INTO R ENG -- TWR WAS NOTIFIED OF BIRD STRIKE. ALSO STRONG SMELL IN CABIN AND COCKPIT. CAPT INSTRUCTED ME TO FLY ACFT AND COM WITH ATC, WHILE HE (PER OUR COMPANY PROCS) CONTACTED DISPATCH AND MAINT CTL. CAPT ALSO HAD A COMMUTING COMPANY PLT (WHO WAS RIDING IN BACK) INSPECT R ENG COWLING AND NOSE BULLET, EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL. OUR ENG INSTS WERE ALL NORMAL, WITH TKOF EPR SET AND THERE WAS NO VIBRATION. OUR FELLOW PLT IN BACK, TOLD US THAT 1 OF OUR PAX THOUGHT SHE SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE RUBBER, HIT THE R ENG COWL. CAPT HAD SAME PLT INSPECT WING AND FLAP AREA, ALL NORMAL. AS A PRECAUTION CAPT ASKED DISPATCH TO CALL DTW TWR AND VERIFY NO DEBRIS FOUND ON RWY, (NONE WAS FOUND). PROCEEDED TO DEST PER MAINT, DISPATCH AND COCKPIT RESOURCE MGMNT. ALL ENG INSTS NORMAL -- NO VIBRATIONS, LNDG NORMAL AT DEST, NORMAL REVERSE THRUST USED AND ALL ENG INSTS NORMAL. PAX AND CREW MADE AWARE OF INITIAL PROB AND REASON FOR SMELL IN CABIN, WHICH DISSIPATED SHORTLY AFTER DEP.
