Narrative:
Navigation failure. En route along AR7, needed to deviate around WX. ATC approved we were then cleared direct to ilm, but cleared to deviate as needed around WX. We were out of VOR range, but following omega navigation system we ended up southeast of smelt intersection. ATC then vectored us back to ilm. The omega navigation system was taking us far off course. The omega navigation system departure accuracy checks were ok, and 1 more additional check was performed ok. After the failure, the omega navigation system showed an amber light and did not work properly for remainder of flight. Omega navigation system was written up in lga.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB. OMEGA NAV SYS (ONS).
Narrative: NAV FAILURE. ENRTE ALONG AR7, NEEDED TO DEVIATE AROUND WX. ATC APPROVED WE WERE THEN CLRED DIRECT TO ILM, BUT CLRED TO DEVIATE AS NEEDED AROUND WX. WE WERE OUT OF VOR RANGE, BUT FOLLOWING OMEGA NAV SYS WE ENDED UP SE OF SMELT INTXN. ATC THEN VECTORED US BACK TO ILM. THE OMEGA NAV SYS WAS TAKING US FAR OFF COURSE. THE OMEGA NAV SYS DEP ACCURACY CHKS WERE OK, AND 1 MORE ADDITIONAL CHK WAS PERFORMED OK. AFTER THE FAILURE, THE OMEGA NAV SYS SHOWED AN AMBER LIGHT AND DID NOT WORK PROPERLY FOR REMAINDER OF FLT. OMEGA NAV SYS WAS WRITTEN UP IN LGA.
