Narrative:

I was assigned the de-docking task on an aircraft. I have removed the main landing gear pins. On my way to the nose gear, I was requested by a mechanic to go to the cockpit for another task. I was also assisting the hydraulic servicing and flaps trailing edge retraction. I got distracted by other objectives and an abnormal situation such as #1 engine change going at the same time with our check which actually creates a very different confign than the routine card. After I left the cockpit, I went back down again to complete the docking. We had to shut off the power again at the engine crew's request. Having the power on a sporadic base I went again to the nosewheel, by not seeing any lights (nosewheel inspection light) I got distracted again by a shift change. New people, new directive and other tests being conducted by day shift engine crew, overlapping combined to create more anomalies in the situation causing me to get further away from the nose gear pin again. I did leave a copy of the de-docking procedures with the aircraft paperwork package because of the hectic and unusual situation. Then proceeded to sign off thinking honestly that I was doing a decent job. I realized that I was erroneous the following day when the foreman gave me the message that I have overlooked to remove the nose gear pin and caused an unscheduled landing.

Title: MECH FAILS TO REMOVE NOSE GEAR PIN ON WDB CAUSING RETURN LAND.

Narrative: I WAS ASSIGNED THE DE-DOCKING TASK ON AN ACFT. I HAVE REMOVED THE MAIN LNDG GEAR PINS. ON MY WAY TO THE NOSE GEAR, I WAS REQUESTED BY A MECH TO GO TO THE COCKPIT FOR ANOTHER TASK. I WAS ALSO ASSISTING THE HYD SVCING AND FLAPS TRAILING EDGE RETRACTION. I GOT DISTRACTED BY OTHER OBJECTIVES AND AN ABNORMAL SIT SUCH AS #1 ENG CHANGE GOING AT THE SAME TIME WITH OUR CHK WHICH ACTUALLY CREATES A VERY DIFFERENT CONFIGN THAN THE ROUTINE CARD. AFTER I LEFT THE COCKPIT, I WENT BACK DOWN AGAIN TO COMPLETE THE DOCKING. WE HAD TO SHUT OFF THE PWR AGAIN AT THE ENG CREW'S REQUEST. HAVING THE PWR ON A SPORADIC BASE I WENT AGAIN TO THE NOSEWHEEL, BY NOT SEEING ANY LIGHTS (NOSEWHEEL INSPECTION LIGHT) I GOT DISTRACTED AGAIN BY A SHIFT CHANGE. NEW PEOPLE, NEW DIRECTIVE AND OTHER TESTS BEING CONDUCTED BY DAY SHIFT ENG CREW, OVERLAPPING COMBINED TO CREATE MORE ANOMALIES IN THE SIT CAUSING ME TO GET FURTHER AWAY FROM THE NOSE GEAR PIN AGAIN. I DID LEAVE A COPY OF THE DE-DOCKING PROCS WITH THE ACFT PAPERWORK PACKAGE BECAUSE OF THE HECTIC AND UNUSUAL SIT. THEN PROCEEDED TO SIGN OFF THINKING HONESTLY THAT I WAS DOING A DECENT JOB. I REALIZED THAT I WAS ERRONEOUS THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN THE FOREMAN GAVE ME THE MESSAGE THAT I HAVE OVERLOOKED TO REMOVE THE NOSE GEAR PIN AND CAUSED AN UNSCHEDULED LNDG.
