Narrative:
Inadvertently flew wrong departure SID and started a turn at 3 DME instead of 13 DME. Noticed error after query by departure controller. At destination, called controller to discuss situation. No conflict was involved, however he did say that many departure mistakes are made on reno sids. Sids are under review to determine problems. There are 20 sids and as many pages, which have sids that are very similar. With engine inoperative procedures and profiles overprinted on SID pages it is very easy to misread or make a mistake. Sids need to be simplified and combined. For example, the wagge 1 departure for runways 16L and 16R are exactly the same except for minimum climb gradient. These 2 sids could be on 1 page. Engine inoperative profile slightly different but could be less complicated. There is too much information which can cause confusion and mistakes.
