Narrative:
Our B727-200 experienced a system hydraulic failure on final approach when flaps 2 degrees was selected, total loss of a system fluid. Go around executed, emergency declared. 10 mi rectangular pattern flown to the east of bos at 3000 ft. Emergency and abnormal checklists accomplished and aircraft landed uneventfully. Maintenance found a 'blown' #8 slat actuator. Consequently #8 slat would not extend with the alternate method, ie, standby system. Final approach flown at vref plus 30 KIAS due to a system failure (spoiler float) and asymmetrical leading edge device. Aircraft flew nearly normal. No control problem experienced and was able to turn off runway at high speed exit using rudder pedal steering with ease.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB -- ACR HAS A LEADING EDGE DEVICE FAIL AND LEAK, LOSING A PRIMARY HYD SYS.
Narrative: OUR B727-200 EXPERIENCED A SYS HYD FAILURE ON FINAL APCH WHEN FLAPS 2 DEGS WAS SELECTED, TOTAL LOSS OF A SYS FLUID. GAR EXECUTED, EMER DECLARED. 10 MI RECTANGULAR PATTERN FLOWN TO THE E OF BOS AT 3000 FT. EMER AND ABNORMAL CHKLISTS ACCOMPLISHED AND ACFT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. MAINT FOUND A 'BLOWN' #8 SLAT ACTUATOR. CONSEQUENTLY #8 SLAT WOULD NOT EXTEND WITH THE ALTERNATE METHOD, IE, STANDBY SYS. FINAL APCH FLOWN AT VREF PLUS 30 KIAS DUE TO A SYS FAILURE (SPOILER FLOAT) AND ASYMMETRICAL LEADING EDGE DEVICE. ACFT FLEW NEARLY NORMAL. NO CTL PROB EXPERIENCED AND WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF RWY AT HIGH SPD EXIT USING RUDDER PEDAL STEERING WITH EASE.
